Writing for Results

Train your team to write crisp, clear, and concise business documents

Every day, organizations lose money and expose themselves to excess risk because of poorly written communications.

This program enhances your team’s strategic communication skills by giving them the toolkit to write clear and concise business documents that eliminate confusion, make good use of both the writer’s and reader’s time, and help the reader make more informed business decisions and avoid costly mistakes.

Over the past 30 years, we’ve provided this training to many different organizations in nearly every function within an organization, including marketing, finance, IT, human resources, operations, internal audit, and compliance testing.

Minimize Errors and Reduce Risk with Effective Business Writing

After completing Writing for Results, participants are equipped to write more clearly, thus reducing misunderstanding, wasted effort, rework, and editing.

This impacts the organization at every level:

  • Managers and directors waste less time reading unclear and poorly organized writing. Instead, these leaders have a clear understanding of the situation at hand.

  • Business leaders have the information required to make confident and informed decisions.

  • Business leaders can act to take advantage of opportunities and decrease risk.

What Participants Learn

Throughout the program, participants learn how to communicate information, recommendations, and ideas through implementing the key skills for effective writing:

  • Expressing ideas and information clearly and concisely, enabling readers to grasp key points quickly.

  • Presenting information and recommendations persuasively and compellingly, thereby gaining commitment to act to bring about desired business results.

  • Avoiding common errors in grammar, word choice, and syntax that lead to misunderstanding or wasted time.

  • Presenting themselves as effective professionals through their written communication.

“The most important thing to me is that a program like this is customized to meet the goals of my business—not just something that's off the shelf and is boring, irrelevant, or not germane to what we're talking about.

You get a high level of customization with them—the content, and the commitment to make sure the program is put together executed well, and that there's proper follow-up. I think that's what really makes them stand out as a provider.”

  • Targeted Customization

We tailor the program for your specific situations, needs, and organizational culture.

  • Focused Skill-Building

Participants experience intensive practice and skill-building rather than only learning concepts and theory.

  • 1:1 Writing Coaching

Our writing coach meets 1:1 with each participant to review their writing samples and provide concrete feedback and guidance to improve their writing.

While he was with our unit, his sentences continued to shorten and the bottom line was always stated first. These changes resulted in shorter and easy-to-read narratives.

"We have also amended our unit’s narrative structure to be more of a series of guidelines rather than a template. This updated narrative guideline will encourage conciseness, reduce repetition, and state the bottom line first."

Effective Business Writing for Improved Performance

One of the reasons we promise such amazing results is that we track key metrics to ensure that our programs create sustained, measurable results for our clients:

  • Post-Program Survey: Following the program, we seek feedback from participants in which they assess their writing skills and confidence both before and after the course.

  • Reporting & Analysis: After receiving feedback from participants, we provide a written summary with recommendations and meet with you to review it.

  • Additional Follow-Up: We’ll work with you to identify opportunities to sustain and further improve effective business writing habits.
