Team Effectiveness

This course uses numerous team exercises to enable you to learn teamwork principles by experiencing team issues.  In each exercise, you will be working in teams to discover solutions and plan both preventive measures and remedies.

Course Objectives:

  • As a result of attending this course you will be able to

  • Describe characteristics of highly effective teams

  • Identify symptoms of poorly functioning teams

  • Identify the 4 key elements all effective teams need

  • Describe stages of team development and barriers to effectiveness encountered at each stage

  • Create a list of group norms

  • Use diagnostic tools to assess team effectiveness

  • Make a valuable contribution as a leader or team member by:

  • Helping teams clarify goals, roles and responsibilities, procedures and relationships

  • Avoiding behavior that can cause teams to stumble

  • Helping team get “unstuck”

  • Helping resolve conflicts

  • Helping diagnose effectiveness
